Wildlife need a way to cross highway 97 to drink!

I live in the Wenatchee Valley of Washington state. I take highway 97 to drive to work everyday. Occasionally cars have to stop for mountain sheep that are attempting to cross the highway to get to the Columbia river to drink water. This is usually difficult for them as they are scared of the cars, and often they just turn around and go back where they came from.

On one occasion I witnessed a state patrol officer drive into the other lane, right up to a family of sheep to scare them back up the hill, rather than stopping to let them cross.

The Columbia is the most important water source for wildlife in the area, and the only way of getting there is crossing the highway. Chelan county needs to figure out a way of letting wildlife cross the highway safely. A wildlife bridge (or ecoduct) would be the most effective way of doing this.

Let the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife, the city of Wenatchee, and Chelan County, know that the safety of our wildlife is important! Support the creation of a wildlife bridge for Hwy 97.
