We, the undersigned, want all supermarkets and retailers to follow Iceland's example and stop using unnecessary, wasteful plastic packaging. Plastics are a waste of energy to produce and very harmful to wildlife; fifty percent of sea turtles have plastic in their stomachs, which is no surprise considering close to NINE MILLION of plastic end up in the oceans every year.

Iceland has become the first major retailer to commit to eliminate plastic packaging for all own brand products within five years to help end the "scourge" of plastic pollution.
The retailer said it would be replacing plastic with packaging including paper and pulp trays and paper bags which would be recyclable through domestic waste collections or in-store recycling facilities.

Please share this video. These turtles on Christmas Island have to battle a wall of debris to reach the ocean. We need to understand the impact plastic has on the environment and wildlife.
