Sign language to be taught in schools

I have previously looked into learning sign language and was very disheartened to see that the cost of these courses were extortionate.

You have foreign languages being taught in school when a lot of children never get the opportunity to utilise this however there are over 900,000 people in the uk that have hearing problems, with 45,000 of them being children.

More than 70% of people aged 70 years old and 40% over 50's have hearing problems so surely learning sign language (even the basics) would be more useful than say German for example.

I think it's great that it is now taught in nurseries but why not roll it out further and help make someone feel less excluded.

Please share with everyone you can to ensure that it at least is discussed.

To Whom it may concern;

We we believe that in addition to nurseries teaching basic sign language, schools should have it included in their curriculum. It would help bridge the gap and make people with hearing problems to feel more included.

Many Thanks,
