Release Melvin from Sulaibiya prison, Kuwait

Melwin Fernades native of Karkala, India, working as a field service supervisor in Kuwait was asked by his neighbour Justine Castelino to carry a parcel consisting of meat, pickle, spices and some medicines to be given to her husband Richard Castelino, a man known to Melvin. Melvin claims that he believed her and agreed to take the parcel without checking the contents. On his arrival in Kuwait, he was detained by the Kuwait customs officials for carrying the drug Tramadol (a pain killer), a banned drug without prescription. He, immediately, called his wife Carol in India to call Richard Castelino and ask him to come to the airport with authentic prescription for the medicine. It is reported that although Richard had promised to help to release Melvin initially, he has since become evasive blaming Melvin for not checking up on the rules of the land. Besides, shocked and distressed by these developments, Melvin’s wife Carol contacted the Indian Embassy with the help of noted activist Pascal Pinto. She claims that Pascal Pinto has since been getting threats warning him not to intervene.

Its really appalling what happened to Melvin for being considerate towards his neighbours.  Melvin and Carol have two young daughters. Please help with your support and prayers for Melvin and his distressed family.
