This city needs a unit built for children with developmental disabilities/autism. There is no need for our children's to be sent to another state for treatment when it could be done right here at home . We have a very excellent children's hospital here in the city of Springfield . So please join me in this fight for our children ...because they deserve the best treatment they can get right here . While we do have a great hospital in West Springfield for some of our childrens psychiatric conditions they do not have a unit that specializes in children that are developmentally delayed or with children that are on the autism spectrum. As time progresses it is obvious of the lack of services available here for these children after the age of 3. This is an issue that I hold close to my heart and will continue to fight for these children and families so that they can have the level of care they need right here at home. Families shouldn't have to choose on wether to not get care because their is none avaliable right here at home or sending their child out of this state. Please join me on this journey so we can finally rest a little easier knowing they are going to be taken care of.
Hello my name is Yara Felix and I am a proud mother of a very smart and energetic autistic boy named mikey. We are residents of the city of Springfield .We have watched this hospital grow into a very successful corporation. The main question that I continue to ask myself , friends , family and even some of your clinicians and nurses is why don't we have a unit that specializes in children like my son ? We know that everything takes time, patience and funding but you continue to build up in this city with a disregard to the needs of this community and our children. They should not have to be sent out of state where they feel alone and confused when you can provide a safe environment right here in Springfield. I will not stop until my voice and the voices of those parents are heard. We are parents that are willing to go to the ends of the world for our children and we will not stop until this unit is built right here in this city.
