STOP THE DEER CULL IN PHILADELPHIA PARKS

Starting in 1999 and still a yearly undertaking, the city of Philadelphia began hiring so called "sharpshooters" that used bait to kill deer in the Pennypack and Fairmount Park systems after being pressured by Friend Groups of the Parks because of unfounded, exaggerated claims of damage to the parks vegetation and complaints from neighbors living near the park.
As usual, there was never any impact study to determine realistic deer numbers or suspected environmental damage, only a biased, pro hunting biologist that works in the area and is used exclusively by neighboring counties to extol the same verdict...kill the deer. This person and the city have refused to opt for anything remotely humane to confront this terrible cruelty and now with a new Mayor James Kenney, there is a chance we can stop the killing.
There are proven, humane sterilization techniques available such as PZP which is a contraceptive that would sterilize the deer and end the killing. Please sign this petition and if possible email the Mayor at James.Kenney@phila.gov and ask him to stop the slaughter today.

There are many humane options available but killing on a grand scale never works and if it did then why do they have to kill these animals every year? It is cruel and unnecessary let's stop it now!
