As fans of Van Halen (one of the greatest rock groups), we ask that you tell SeaWorld to cease and desist from playing your music at their "Shamu Rocks" shows. The marine mammals are forced to listen to blasting music and screaming people. Cetaceans, such as the Orcas used in these shows, have extremely sensitive hearing. It is proven that they hear much higher frequencies than we do and therefore, the loud music and cheering crowds are painful and disturbing for the dolphins in captivity.
Please watch the movie Blackfish to get an understanding of the trauma these animals are subjected to. Beside the loud noises, they are kept in bathtub like enclosures away from their pods and natural environment. This is a cruel and depressing existence.
We know that the awesome members and animal lovers of Van Halen will do the right thing and join the likes of Joan Jett and Savage Garden in demanding that their music not be played. We are counting on you Van Halen!
