Preserve the Historical and Respectful OCHS Mascot

While frivolous claims may suggest that the origins of the Oconee County High School mascot are lodged in a racist background, the cretins from which this claim arises from is composed of a demographic that is lacking in actual Native Americans. Any astute citizen would clearly derive the proper meaning behind our Native American mascot. These indigenous peoples were true warriors. Take the exemplary Tecumseh as an example. Both a powerful warrior and chief, this man was a legendary diplomat for both his Native American people and the white man. The art of a true warrior excludes petty assumptions of color and culture, for Tecumseh treated foreigners as brothers and was the epitome of what an OCHS warrior strives to resemble. The Native American warrior is a proud symbol for both indegenous populations and Oconee County High School.
