The Nexus Pipeline is a potential life threatening 256 mile gas pipeline that must be stopped. It's scheduled to travel through Michigan and Ohio. There is no safe way to fracking! During the process, toxic chemicals and methane gas are released into the ground and attach to the groundwater. Resulting in a contaminated water source for the neighboring communities. This pipeline is scheduled to pass through my hometown Ypsilanti, which will negatively impact my family and friends lives. I refuse to let this happen.
My goal is to completely end this pipeline. The toxic chemicals used in fracking are scientifically proven to cause cancer and birth defects. No amount of regulation will protect fracking from causing harm to our land, water, air, and public health. New York and Vermont are the first two states to ban fracking in the US. While France, Germany, Scotland, and Bulgaria have banned fracking through out their countries. Communities need access to clean energy through wind and solar energy, not gas pipelines.
Time is of the essence, major construction for the Nexus pipeline is set to begin in January of 2017. Please sign and share this petition to avoid the potential pollution of my hometown and all other cities that this pipeline will pass through. Thousands of children will likely be poisoned by toxic water and chemicals just so these fossil fuel and energy companies can make hundreds of millions of dollars in profit. Access to clean water is a human right and this right is being infringed on.
