STOP FIREWORKS being sold to the general public in Great Britain

Every year without fail, thousands of animals are petrified and tortured by the recurring explosions of fireworks set off willy-nilly in celebration of some failed attempt to use gunpowder to blow up a long-dead monarch and his likewise parliament. Supposedly a part of our culture, I cannot comprehend what aspect of our culture obliges the scaring of dogs, cats, birds and other animals. I ask that the government simply take control of the sales of fireworks and prevent them falling into the hands of the inconsiderate element who seem to delight in causing all sorts of mayhem. If people want to hear loud bangs accompanied by flashes of light they are free to attend properly organised public events. We need to stop fireworks being easily available NOW!

We the undersigned respectfully request Her Majesty's Government to investigate and install measures to control the access of the general public in the United Kingdom to being able to purchase fireworks that are often used in a manner that frightens, torments and often injures both domestic family pets and other wildlife.
