EPA: Keep North Carolina's Air Clean!

  • van: Kailey L.
  • ontvanger: Environmental Protection Agency

The air in North Carolina is finally cleaner, but not for long, if Governor Roy Cooper has anything to say about it.

Earlier this month, Cooper signed legislation which dramatically cut the number of counties required to conduct vehicle emissions tests. Roughly 2 million North Carolinians will now not have to go through emissions testing - only 22 out of 100 counties would be required under this law. Luckily, the EPA has the ability to stop it.

In North Carolina, vehicle emissions standards and a number of other environmental initiatives have significantly cleaned the air. Bad air quality has terrible consequences for public health and environmental pollution. Yet Governor Cooper doesn't seem to understand that good air quality is maintained by things like emissions tests and regulatory measures.

In order to protect North Carolina's air, the Environmental Protection Agency should reject this legislation. Vehicles in North Carolina should still be required to conduct emissions tests. This is critical if the state is to maintain cleaner air.

Sign now to tell the EPA: keep North Carolina's air clean! Reject Governor Cooper's dangerous new bill that reduces vehicle emissions testing.
