Urge the New South Wales Government to Take Action and Act on CSG Regulation

Environmentalists say the NSW government is yet to meet eight of the 15 recommendations one year after they were made in a report into coal seam gas, according to a report the Sydney Morning Herald.

The delay has come at the same time as CSG activities have been proceeding in areas such as Gloucester and Narrabri. While CSG activities are able to proceed the possibility remains that a clean-up will be needed to ensure both the health of the community and the environment.

Environmentalists from Lock the Gate Alliance argue the government has failed to meet recommendations that include creating a standing expert advisory body on CSG, establishing a world-class regime for CSG extraction and ensuring careful restriction of areas where CSG is allowed.

Anthony Robert, NSW Resources and Energy Minister, said that while not all recommendations had been implemented the government was committed to completing all of the report's recommendations.

The health of the environment and the people of NSW should be the government's priority. Will you join me in urging the NSW Government to take action and act on CSG regulation before any more test drilling or sites are opened?
