Demand that disable student allowance (DSA) students in further/higher education get their voice back

Since Student Finance England took over payments for all students in 2015/16, the Department for Education has informed that these students no longer have a voice on who supports them. However, they inform that children have to have a voice, but as an adult with a disability, this is not allowed, and so they cannot choose which non-medical helper (NMH) can support them, whether the NMH is registered with Disabled Students Allowances Quality Assurance Group (DSA-QAG) or not.
DSA students were able to choose their support in the past; however, this has now stopped. Many students feel helpless, because they are unable to choose their support worker. This is not supporting/understanding students with disabilities and their needs; it only allows the DfE to have full control over students’ lives. These students are investing in their own education; therefore, should be able to choose who supports them.
Give DSA students in further/higher back their voice. Let them have the control of who is best to support them, so they have a better chance of succeeding.
Please sign this petition to improve these student’s chances.
