Wisconsin: Stop Making Taxpayers Subsidize Wolf Hounding!

Wolf hounding is a centuries-old practice in which hunters release packs of dogs to chase and corner wolves, which the hunters are supposed to kill. The law forbids hunters to let dogs kill the wolves themselves, but dogs run much faster than hunters can, so their chase often results in a blood battle between the wolf and the dogs.

This practice is barbaric enough, but making taxpayers support it is outrageous. About 15 dogs are killed in wolf hounding every year in Wisconsin, and taxpayers reimburse hunters at a value of $2,500 per dog. Since 2004, taxpayers paid nearly $400,000 to subsidize hounders.

Please sign the petition to urge Wisconsin's legislators to stop reimbursing these hunters with taxpayers' dollars!

We, the undersigned, are concerned that the practice of wolf hounding is subsidized with taxpayers' dollars.
