New anti-trans legislation is being filed and passed with every passing day, and with it comes increasing levels of cruelty and a stunning lack of humanity from their Republican sponsors.
The Kentucky House has passed a bill banning all gender-affirming medical care for minors in the state, effectively forcing them to detransition by keeping them from accessing the puberty blockers and hormones they need to express their true selves. The pleas of Rep. Karen Berg, who recently lost her trans son to suicide, fell on deaf ears from the so-called party of "family values."
Demand an end to the endless anti-trans bills coming from the Kentucky legislature!
Miles Joiner, a trans social worker, said this bill "asks me to go against the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association. How can you ask professionals to do that? ...If somebody decided they were going to deny you medically-necessary care that would save your life, how would that make you feel?"
It's abhorrent that these grown adults are wasting public time and money to bully LGBTQ children and demonize them for being who they are while ignoring the very real issues facing the people of Kentucky. It's time we let them know they've crossed the line.
