The state of NM has passed a law for OR bond release. This means if a person is arrested for ANY crime, including violent crimes, and they do not have a job or means to post a bond, the state is requiring judges to release the person immediately and without having to pay a bond. The person just signs paperwork claiming they will return to court on the date specified. People keep asking why NM is getting more dangerous and why crime seems to be increasing, THIS IS WHY! There are NO CONSEQUENCES for crimes committed. All a person has to do is not have an income and they can be arrested as many times as they please knowing they will just get out! This is not only causing crime rates to increase, but it's costing the state money having to send officers out to locate the suspect repeatedly once they skip court and a warrant is issued. It's costing man hours, wasting time officers could be using for other things and putting the lives of law abiding New Mexico citizens at risk! Enough is enough New Mexico!
