The legalization of recreational marijuana should never happen. It is not only noted as a gateway drug to stronger usage. It is a gateway to increased medical illnesses and expenses adding additional burden on an already expensive medical care system. So how are we saving or make money is only short term but in the long run it will increase the number of people suffering from lung damage such as emphysema. The thought of 1 joint equaling 5 cigarettes should serve as a wake up call. American Lung Association where are you?Second hand smoke is a social as well as a medical issue. Recreational marijuana smoke which is thicker and also provides all those within breathing range a "contact" or high effect. Just think parents or adults that smoke marijuana in the privacy of their homes can give their children a similar or same high effect referred to as contact. Where is the Divsional of Youth and Family Services?!!!
Needless to say, if you live in a shared or multi dwelling the second hand smoke which is twice as thick as cigarette smoke can flow into your apartment as well. Socially it is not fair to those who are not participants and put our children at risk.
Just recently they had to hospitalize people who smoked synthetic marijuana and ended up in the Emergency Room and some have also died. At what cost and at whose expense are we willing to ignore to promote the usage of a drug that increases medical, violates my choice to not participate because of second hand smoke effects and totally ignores the well being and safety of our children who can get high from being in the presence of users.
