Joshua Sole has been busking in and around the Telford area since January 2013. During his time busking he spent many hours playing music in Madeley, where he spent his childhood growing up around the markets with his dad Steve, who is a market trader of 25 years.
Joshua has become a part of the Madeley community and many people, old and young, look forward to hearing Josh and chatting to him, as he is a true local, with roots in the area and many fantastic friends who support his music.
Tesco on a few occasions have asked Josh to move along and he has stood his ground and refused, now this week on the 17/3/2016 Joshua was busking in Madeley, when he was approached by a security guard and a Fresh Food Manager and asked to move on.
They said Tesco donate to charity and Josh's busking may deter people from donating, so Josh offered that he donates 10% of his busking earning to their instore charities. They declined. He then stated after this weekend, he will be out of the area for some time and asked for this weekend, that the management allow him to busk Friday afternoon 17/3 and Sunday daytime 21/3 for a period not exceeding two hours on each day. They declined.
Since Tesco arrived in Madeley many small local business' have ceased trading and the local market has shrunk to an unrecognisable size due to fierce competition and Tesco's purchasing Madeley.
Please sign this petition to show Tesco that we support our local busker's and we wont see massive corporations like Tesco punch down to the small guys, and that we the undersigned support our small local business'. Lets try and help Josh get his pitch back for when he is next in Madeley, and also allow other buskers to our small, welcoming and friendly Parish.
