This 12-year-old police victim's family shouldn't have to pay $18,000 for his body!

Tamir Rice's heartbreaking story has grown even worse.

In November, Cleveland Police officers Timothy Loehmann and Frank Garmback responded to a report of a possible firearm on a playground. They pulled up and, before Tamir had time to understand any orders, Loehmann murdered the 12-year-old. It turns out all Tamir had was a toy Airsoft gun, which the police never saw - and video proved that it was all over within three seconds, before Tamir even had time to understand the officers' orders. 68,000 Care2 members have signed a petition calling for Loehmann's indictment.

Now, six heart-wrenching months after Tamir was killed, his family is finally getting his body back for cremation - but they are being charged $18,000 for storing the body during the six-month investigation.

Enough is enough. Tamir's mother Samaria is already living in a homeless shelter due to the stress of living next door to the park where her son died. It is wrong to keep harassing her this way! The government should pay for the beautiful, innocent young boy they senselessly gunned down, not the boy's family. This is a moral outrage, and it is not what Samaria Rice and her family deserve.

Sign the petition today: Demand that the city of Cleveland pay the $18,000 body-storage bill and apologize to Mrs. Rice and her family!

It is wrong to demand that Tamir Rice's family pay $18,000 for his body after waiting for the police to complete their investigation. It was the government that killed Tamir and it was the government that needed the body for the investigaiton. Cleveland and Cuyaoage County must apologize to the Rice family and pay the body-storage bill!

Update #18 jaar geleden
There are two new important pieces of news in the police murder of 12-year-old Tamir Rice. First, a Cleveland judge said there is probable cause for indictments and believes the two Cleveland PD officers should be prosecuted. Second, the sheriff's department's investigation found NO proof the officers shouted warnings at Rice before killing him.

The case now goes to a Grand Jury, but the officers are still on the force, and must be fired. Please share both Care2 Tamir Rice petitions!
