In name of modera residents
Today, I am reaching out the Owners and Management of Modera Port Royale Apartments, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33308, to ask your help to address housing concerns in our community.
First, thank you for all you are doing to keep our residents safe and healthy as we navigate the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic together.
Second, with a few days left before April rent is due, I would ask that you consider now what you can do to ease the burdens of Modera tenants who will have difficulty paying their next rent because of illness or financial hardship related to ongoing business disruptions and forced closures.
Some of us are impacted self-employed entrepreneurs, some of us work for a non-essential business, some of us are on furlough and some of us have become unemployed. There is no one who will not be touched in some way, shape or form. We are watching developments and daily changes about COVID-19 very closely and are, as you might imagine, very concerned. No one will escape unscathed, we will all be earning much less over the coming months.
To mitigate housing insecurities related to the pandemic and its anticipated impacts, I am requesting that Millcreek forgive rent payments, at the very least, for the month of April 2020, ideally for the months of May and June, 2020 as well. This would only include tenants who are current on their rent through March. This is an opportunity for Millcreek to show compassion, not just by words.
We hope, for ourselves and for everyone's sake, that life becomes more stable as soon as possible.
Until then, it seems all we can do is be pragmatic, avoid panic, and support each other as best we can.
