Please help the suffering cows of Kos.
These animals are tied up year-round, exposed to the burning sun in the summer and to rain and cold in the winter, without any shelter. They are often left without water or food. This is not only inhumane, it is also illegal. According to Greek law, keeping animals in such conditions is a criminal offence.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, many police reports have already been filed. Yet, the local police on Kos fail to act. Even more concerning, the Prosecutor's Office repeatedly dismisses these cases despite clear and undeniable evidence of animal abuse.
The reason these cows are kept like this is not for farming purposes, but because their owners receive European subsidies per animal. This makes the suffering of these animals not only a moral outrage, but also a misuse of EU funds.
With your signature, we show them that people across Europe and beyond are watching and that we care. We strongly oppose the way these animals are being treated and call for immediate action.
