Help provide access to healthy food for Americans living in poverty

America is suffering a silent crisis that’s finally coming to the surface: one in six Americans is food insecure. That means they live in a situation where access to affordable food is a challenge.

That problem is compounded by the fact that for folks in poverty, healthy food is largely unavailable. Often the only affordable and accessible options to feed the family are heavily processed fast foods loaded with obesity-and-disease-accelerating junk.

This phenomenon is known as "food deserts" where low income populations lack convenient access to grocery stores or supermarkets.

That’s why Care2 – the largest social network site for good - and New Hope Network – the epicenter of the natural and healthy products industry - have partnered to shine a light on this issue.

Sign the pledge and share now. If we make it to 15,000 signatures by Saturday evening, New Hope will donate $5,000 to Real Food Farm in Baltimore!

Real Food Farm supports the food insecure in Baltimore with fresh fruits and veggies through a creative urban farming and a local farmers market system.

Baltimore is an extreme case of a widespread problem, but city by city, we can help end food deserts if we work together to make healthy foods affordable and accessible. Sign now!
