A policy to end the unneeded high cost off college textbooks

It has been statistically proven that the high, and continuously rising, cost of textbooks negatively effects students in the classroom. In a speech I performed at Baruch College for Communications Studies, I stated that the cost of textbooks has the capability of holding students back from their full learning capabilities because of the fact that they cannot afford to purchase them. Students have even gone as far as not enrolling for certain classes solely for the reason that the textbook was too costly. This easily fixed issue should not be a barrier to students educational needs. The way to fix this is through open textbooks. These are books that can be accessed online for a much lower price than a hard copy. They contain the same information as a regular hard copy book and both the professor and students have access to them. This form of books also allows the professor to customize the information if they wish to add or remove certain content, making it beneficial for not just the students but the professors too. If you wish to have a policy created that requires the professors to use these form of textbooks, please sign your name.
