Stand Against Commercial Deer Hunting in NJ!

A new bill aims to reduce New Jersey's deer population by allowing commercial deer hunting. Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande of Monmouth County, who introduced the bill, claims that letting hunters profit from deer meat sales would reduce the risk of Lyme disease and the risks that deer pose to drivers.

Currently, hunters are allowed to shoot and kill deer, but they are not allowed to sell the meat for profit. Some hunters oppose the bill, believing it will lead to overzealous slaughter. Kevin Beetel from Good Times Hunting explains, "Basically you're taking hunting and turning it into killing. You're going to have people running over every deer you see, because of the dollar sign. So people are going to be poaching out of people's back yards. It's just a bad idea."

Commercializing deer hunting is not the answer to reducing their populations, and would put peaceful citizens' privacy, property and safety at risk. It would also disturb New Jersey's ecosystem. Please sign the petition to urge New Jersey's legislators to vote against the bill and seek humane alternatives to controlling the deer population.

We, the undersigned, are concerned about a new bill that aims to reduce New Jersey's deer population by allowing commercial deer hunting. Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande of Monmouth County, who introduced the bill, claims that letting hunters profit from deer meat sales would reduce the risk of Lyme disease and the risks that deer pose to drivers.
As you know, hunters are currently allowed to shoot and kill deer, but they are not allowed to sell the meat for profit.

Commercializing deer hunting is not the answer to reducing their populations, and we believe it would put peaceful citizens' privacy, property and safety at risk. It would also disturb New Jersey's ecosystem. We respectfully urge you to vote against the bill and seek humane alternatives to controlling the deer population. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
