Demand Jefferson Hills Borough help protect our children at school!

We, the parents and community members of the West Jefferson Hills School District petition the Borough of Jefferson Hills, Pa. to hire and commit to help fund a School Resource Officer (SRO) for assignment at Jefferson Hills Elementary (soon to be Jefferson Hills Intermediate) and Gill Hall Elementary School.

A SRO provides an essential level of protection. Stationed on the school premises and having a direct line of communication with Jefferson Hills Police Department, SROs are effectively positioned to serve the students, faculty, staff and surrounding community in times of crisis. In addition, SROs act in leadership roles in an academic setting by nurturing positive attitudes toward law enforcement during crucial, formative years of development for students. They conduct and support programs addressing peer pressure, bullying, identifying and dealing with dangerous situations, gun safety, drug and alcohol awareness, civics and community engagement, among others. Their positive impact on student safety, education and well-being, cannot be understated.

We demand that the Borough of Jefferson Hills, Pa. immediately begin the hiring process for a School Resource Officer for Jefferson Hills Elementary (soon to be Jefferson Hills Intermediate) and Gill Hall Elementary, and have that position filled for use during the WJHSD calendar school years.
