About Demand Sprint to Compensate Tennisman for False Testimony and Damages

.A $15 screen protector purchased online at a Sprint store ended up costing $3,000 (and a day in jail) to a man nick-named Tennisman.  The poor man almost ended up with a jail sentence.

On 08/24/2010, Tennisman walked into a local Sprint store located at Dobbin Center in Columbia, Maryland to return a screen protector that he purchased online to a Sprint store as instructed. The Sprint manager refused to accept the screen protector and decided to call the police (after Tennisman threatened to block the door but did not carry out the the threat).

When the  Howard County police officer arrived, he asked Tennisman to leave or he would be under arrest. Tennisman asked,"under arrest for what?"

The police officer replied, "This is a civil matter between you and Sprint leave or you're under arrest."

Tennisman then attempted to leave the store and tried to reach out for his box of screen protectors but was suddenly knocked to the ground by the police officer injuring his mouth and drawing some blood. Tennisman was handcuffed for the first time in his life. Not only were his hands bound but his ankles as well. Tennisman was then transported to Howard County Hospital then to Jessup Jail where he was booked for a day.

Tennisman was wrongfully charged with second degree assault, trespassing, resisting arrest, failing to obey a police officer and disorderly conduct.

Tennisman was found not guilty on all counts except disorderly conduct where Tennisman was asked to pay a $200 court fee.

Tennisman was found not guilty as seven surveillance cameras installed at the Sprint store failed to show the assault, in addition, the Sprint manager and the police officer's testimony was found to be inconsistent.

Tennisman is calling for justice:

-As the evidence and the facts presented in the criminal case were not true.

-That this case was a civil matter between Tennisman and Sprint but ended up being the State of Maryland versus Tennisman.

-That there were about 15 people in the store at the time this incident occurred but both the Sprint manager and the police officer failed to provide any witnesses to back up their stories.

As a result of Sprint's negligence and false testimony under oath, Tennisman suffered humiliation, pain, embarrassment, and mental anguish .Tennisman requests public support to demand Sprint to compensate Tennisman for his damages.

Tennisman is a 52 year old father of 2 without prior criminal history.
