Free Minerva

This petition is an urge for the acknowledgement of the free and sovereign Principality of Minerva, a country that established independence in 1972, but was shortly after invaded and occupied.

To the honourable members of the United Nations,

We, the people, have taken in consideration and agree and understand the following:

That in 1972 a nation was founded by Michael Oliver, who wanted to create a paradise on earth, on the previously unclaimed Minerva Atoll, named after a ship sunk there earlier.

In june of the same year, the Kingdom of Tonga invaded, conquered and occupied the country with military force.

Oliver and president Davis went in exile.

In 2003, the Republic of Minerva was transformed into a non-heritary Principality, under the lead of His Royal Highness Calvin of Minerva.

He has expressed his mourning about the lack of international concerns for the liberation of his country. For thirty years Minerva is now under occupied force.

De jure and de facto the Principality of Minerva has justified every claim on the Minerva Atoll. This is supported by international laws, amongst which of the United Nations themselves.

We, the people, as thus request that the International Commission would closely consider the matter of the Principality of Minerva.

Signed.
