Support the Ban on Horse Slaughter

There are currently no horse slaughter plants in the U.S., and for good reason — they treat horses with exceptional cruelty, pollute local water supplies, lower property values, fill the air with a foul stench and are a drain on local economies.

Americans don't raise horses for food and we do not eat horse meat. As a result of strong public opposition, Congress banned funding for the inspection of horse slaughter plants in 2014. However, the current ban expires on December 11, 2014.

Congress is finalizing legislation to fund the government for the rest of Fiscal Year 2015, and horse slaughter proponents continue to try and influence our government to let the ban on this grisly industry expire. Unless citizens object, horses may soon be commercially slaughtered in our communities for human consumption overseas.

It is now more urgent than ever to continue the ban and prevent this polluting, disgusting, unspeakably cruel industry from establishing roots on U.S. soil.

Please sign the petition if you agree that horse slaughter has no place in the United States.
