The quiet, family-style nature of our beach community is threatened by SAGA's proposed creation of two rental properties with occupancy of 24 persons. Currently, vintage-style cottages stand at 98 and 134 Ocean Blvd. At each location, SAGA has applied to build a 12-bedroom, 17-vehicle rental. At each site, SAGA proposes adding a pool, hot tub, tiki bar, decks all around, a 14-seat home theater, and a game room, as part of a project that includes almost 6,000-feet of enclosed livable space.
Such structures are completey out of character with our Southern Shores Community. Please sign this petition to ask Town Council to block this and any future high-density proposals. We ask Town Council to define single family residential zoning so that it clearly protects our peaceful, residential community.
High density housing brings more litter, more traffic, more noise. We don't want our family-style beach to permit housing suitable for large events such as weddings, spring break frolics, bachelor party blow outs and the like. Let's protect the cottage culture and small scale residential housing which has kept Southern Shores clean, quiet, and beautiful.
