Support Friends of the National Zoo and Help Save Species!

Today, the worldwide extinction rate is alarming — at least 1,000 times the normal background rate. And the resulting loss of wildlife and biodiversity can be catastrophic for humans, too.

Friends of the National Zoo is working to help combat this. With FONZ members' support, the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute conducts vital conservation projects around the globe, builds new habitats for its animals, and trains the next generation of global conservation leaders.

Member support has also helped to fund the reintroduction of scimitar-horned oryx to Chad after 30 years of extinction in the wild, as well as projects that help us understand some of earth's most vulnerable creatures — and how they can be saved.

Extinction will always be a threat. But it doesn't have to be a reality. Show your support for conservation and saving species.
