Help Eliminate Puppy Mills

They don't go on walks. They don't get to play with toys. They don't even know what grass feels like. Confined to tiny cages — their paws cut and bleeding from sharp wire floors — thousands upon thousands of dogs are suffering in cruel commercial breeding facilities known as puppy mills.

Dogs owned by these operations are often kept in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions without adequate veterinary care, food, water or socialization. Mother dogs can be forced to bear puppies until their bodies give out. As hard as it is to believe, these and many other horrific puppy mill practices are entirely legal. Without stronger laws and enforcement to protect these animals, breeders will continue to put profit first, while puppies and their parents pay the price.

But the ASPCA isn't about to give up on these dogs, or let cruel owners mistreat innocent animals. While we work tirelessly to eliminate puppy mills for good, we're also taking immediate action to help the dogs trapped in them:

  • We filed two lawsuits against the USDA for refusing to release critical animal welfare records on licensed breeders, so those who profit off cruelty can no longer hide.
  • We push for better standards of care for dogs trapped in puppy mills.
  • We fight for state- and local-level bans on the retail sale of pets sourced from cruel breeding facilities.

Now's the time to speak up for dogs who can't speak for themselves. Take the pledge to help the ASPCA fight back against puppy mills!
