Help the ACLU Fight for Our Civil Liberties

Freedom of speech, due process, reproductive rights and other cherished civil liberties come under fire in our country every single day. For 90 years, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has stood up for these fundamental rights and freedoms.

In the 1920's, the ACLU helped defend John T. Scopes when he was prosecuted for teaching evolution. Today, the ACLU is fighting to keep one-sided, ideological views like "intelligent design" out of our public schools.

In the 60's and 70's, the ACLU led the way in striking down government prohibitions on birth control and abortion. Today, the ACLU is leading the charge against renewed efforts to restrict a woman's right to choose by taking on anti-choice fanatics across the country.

In the 90's, the ACLU made huge strides towards ending discrimination based on sexual orientation -- and with Romer v. Evans, secured a major victory in the Supreme Court. Today, the ACLU is standing up in court houses, state legislatures and the halls of Congress to stop government interference in same-sex relationships.

And since September 11th, the ACLU has fought to protect individual rights by challenging the Bush-era warrantless spying program, working to fix the Patriot Act and demanding accountability for long-secret CIA abuses.

Today, the ACLU taking on all the above battles and more. With your support, the ACLU will be ready to respond immediately and effectively wherever the next civil liberties battles emerge.
