Stand with the Rock, Standing Rock Reservation against the Dakota Access Oil Pipeline and Big Money/Corporations

  • van: Ruth Logan
  • ontvanger: President, of the U.S., UN, Attorney General N. Dakota

Protect the Oglala Aquifer and Missouri River which provide drinking water to many out west and support the treaty rights and human rights of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, South Dakota. The tribe contends that "The Dakota Access Pipeline poses an imminent threat to the Missouri River due to the potential contamination by oil spills directly impacting the Tribes drinking water," citing big data which suggest the likelihood of a spill being near certain. Their appeal cites environmental racism stemming from the Army Corp's decision not to locate the pipeline north of Bismarck over concerns it would endanger the city's water supply, while issuing permits to trench through burial grounds and the Tribe's main water supply in direct violation of the human right to water. Note that this does not only affect the tribe, as the Oglala Aquifer supplies 81% of the water used in the High Plains area. Insist on the fair and respectful treatment of our First Peoples. Support Standing Rock's request on a moratorium on all pipeline construction until the tribes' treaty rights and human rights are ensured and their free, prior and informed consent obtained. Help ensure clean water and justice for future generations. The tribe has appealed to the U.N. on the basis that the pipeline violates tenets of the U.N. Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Visit IndianCountryToday for more details. Please show the world that we the People care about our earth and justice (for all) even when it does not benefit our pocketbooks and/or have an immediate affect on our wellbeing (for those of us living far from the pipeline access site). We are all related: Mitakuye oyasin.

Standing Rock still needs your support. Only a temporary stop on the pipeline that is limited in scopr, protecting 20 miles around a lake. Construction of the DAPL continues elsewhere. Please continue to share this petition and encourage other to sign in continued support. ThBig and small steps have been taken in the right direction, but we need to keep the momentum going. Wopila!
