Ask Congress to Save America's Songbirds

This spring, millions of birds returned to their nesting grounds in our backyards and open spaces, traveling thousands of miles from their wintering habitat in Latin America and the Caribbean. These birds face increasing threats—habitat loss, invasive species, collisions, and a changing climate.

Since its inception in 2002, the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act has provided millions of dollars for vital conservation efforts, including habitat protection and restoration in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. But many essential conservation projects are still in need of funding, and without action to reauthorize this program, the funding that protects these birds could disappear.

Take action today and urge Congress to reauthorize this vital program on behalf of our nation's birds!

Dear Representative/Senator:

As a constituent, and someone who cares about protecting America's songbirds, I strongly urge you to support and cosponsor legislation to reauthorize the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act (HR 2957/S 520).

The Act has supported vital conservation projects in 48 U.S. states and territories, and 36 Latin American and Caribbean countries, benefiting roughly four million acres of migratory bird habitat. Since 2002, more than $50 million in federal funding has leveraged more than $200 million in matching funds to achieve significant on-the-ground impacts.

America's songbirds are a treasured part of our natural world, valued by our country's 40 million birdwatchers. They also play a critical role in supporting economic and recreational opportunities across the country. I strongly urge you to cosponsor the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act and stand up for America's songbirds.
