Stop the Culture of Cruelty at the U.S. Border

Recently, the human rights group "No More Deaths" released a report that described roughly 30,000 incidents of U.S. Border Patrol abuse of undocumented immigrants.

According to the report, Border Patrol agents regularly denied immigrants food and water, refused to return immigrants' cell phones, money, and other personal effects, and unnecessarily separated family members. Detention cells were either freezing or unbearably hot. They also deported women and children to Mexico's most dangerous cities--often in the dead of night.

This culture of cruelty and disregard for dignity cannot continue. Right now, agents face little to no accountability for their actions. Call on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to investigate the allegations and ensure respect for all immigrants.
The recent allegations of abuse made by the Arizona human rights group "No More Deaths" demonstrate the alarming lack of respect that the Customs and Border Protection shows for undocumented immigrants.

The reports of agents denying immigrants temperate cells, food and water, and their personal effects are bad enough, but the added reports of agents deporting Mexican women and children to dangerous cities in the middle of the night are downright horrifying.

The culture of cruelty at the U.S. Border must stop today. I demand that you immediately investigate these allegations and take active steps to prevent them in the future.
