If we improve adolescent girls' health, keep them safe and in school, prevent child marriage, and give them mentoring, social support, and financial literacy, they, their families, and their communities will prosper. Yet many girls, particularly in the developing world, are excluded from school, community participation, and meaningful livelihoods.

The Population Council is at the forefront of research, analysis, and program design for adolescent girls in the developing world. Our data show when we invest in girls, they become more empowered, more productive, and more economically stable.
