It's time to solve the giant opportunity gap between veterans and non veterans by tackling the outrageous unemployment rates affecting our former soldiers. Enact the Military and Veterans Education Protection Act to
prevent returning soldiers from being taken advantage of by the high-cost but low-quality education opportunities of for-profit colleges.
Veterans shouldn't have to fight so hard to reenter the job market upon returning, yet they continue to face a much higher unemployment rate than non veterans. It's time to implement equal opportunity programs for veterans seeking employment, as well as the education that leads to employment.
The Military and Veterans Education Protection Act will help prevent for-profit colleges from taking advantage of America's 857,000 unemployed veterans. Since so many veterans turn to for-profit colleges for quality education, it is important that this education is relevant to the job market--a notion that this bill will push.
