Hospitals are an important part of every community. But compared to urban communities, rural communities tend to have less access to health care services.

Public health spending has steadily declined over the past five years, and rural communities are often the first to feel the deep cuts. Currently, Missouri ranks 50th among all U.S. states when it comes to public health spending.

But despite the fact Missouri spends less on public health services compared to other states, 41% of Missouri's hospitals are located in rural areas, ready to help improve the quality of life and provide better health care services for rural Missourians.
