Honor Scott Santana's Life: Pledge to Become a California Organ Donor

In 2011, a mother's nightmare became reality for Deanna Santana: her son Scott had been in a car accident and was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury. He was just 17 years old.

Tragically, Scott succumbed to his injuries. In her grief Deanna looked for a teachable moment, and it was Scott who helped her find one: the power of organ donation. On the worst day of her life, Deanna found comfort in knowing Scott had given five families the best news of their lives.

More than 123,000 Americans are currently waiting for an organ transplant — including 22,000 in California. It takes less than 3 minutes to add your name to the donation list and potentially save a life.

On average, 21 patients die every day while waiting for an organ transplant.

Because Scott's name was on the registry, his heart, lungs, kidney, liver, and pancreas helped save the lives of 5 patients, and his tissue went on to heal 73 others.

National Donate Life Month may be over, but the need for lifesaving donations never ends. In Scott’s memory, pledge to become an organ donor today.
I pledge to help save a life by becoming an organ, eye and tissue donor, and generously give life to those who need it after I am gone.

I will share this message with my friends and family so that they know the importance of registering as an organ donor, too.
