Looming cuts to the Medicare program could create a serious disruption in patient access to care.
In what amounts to a "perfect storm," physicians who treat Medicare patients are facing payment cuts of nearly 10% if nothing is done! This would directly impact Medicare patients' ability to access the care they need. And all of this comes at a time when patients already face challenges accessing care because of the COVID-19 public health emergency and while physician practices are recovering from the emotional and financial impacts of the pandemic.
Fortunately, a bipartisan solution is beginning to come together under the leadership of Representatives Ami Bera, MD (D-CA) and Larry Bucshon, MD (R-IN), with the goal of stopping these potentially disastrous cuts before it's too late.
Make sure your U.S. Representative (and U.S. Senators) are a part of this effort and are working with Reps. Bera and Bucshon to lay the groundwork for a solution. In the coming weeks it will be critical for Congress to draft meaningful legislation to stop cuts to the Medicare program from going into effect.
Please contact Congress today and tell them that the financial uncertainty within the Medicare payment system and the danger physician cuts could have on patients' access to care is simply unacceptable. Tell them to join with Reps. Bera and Bucshon to draft and ultimately pass a bill that will stop these cuts before the end of the year!

In what amounts to a "perfect storm" of payment reductions going into effect on January 1, 2022, physician practices face Medicare cuts on multiple fronts that amount to a combined 9.75 percent payment cut on January 1. The result of Congress' inaction on this issue would be catastrophic.
Recently, Congressmen Ami Bera, MD (D-CA) and Larry Bucshon, MD (R-IN), came together with the goal of stopping these potentially disastrous cuts and ending the uncertainty within the Medicare payment system.
