Stop Unlawful Forced Removal of Immigrants in South Africa — Defend Human Rights and Prevent Violence on 30 June
There are serious concerns across communities in South Africa about possible informal and unlawful actions planned for 30 June, where immigrants and foreign nationals may be targeted for forced removal, intimidation, or violence.
Although immigration is a national issue that must be addressed, any attempt by individuals or groups to remove people outside of the legal system is illegal, dangerous, and a violation of human rights.
Such actions create fear, divide communities, and risk escalating into violence. They also undermine South Africa’s Constitution, which protects the dignity and safety of every person within the country, regardless of nationality or documentation status.
If this situation is not addressed properly, innocent people may be harmed and trust between communities will continue to break down.We call on the gov.za to take immediate and firm action:
Publicly and clearly condemn any planned unlawful removals or violence on 30 June
Prevent any group or individual from taking immigration enforcement into their own hands
Ensure law enforcement agencies are prepared to protect all communities if tensions rise
Strengthen monitoring and rapid response in areas at risk of unrest
Promote national unity, calm communication, and respect for the rule of law
We are not opposing immigration control. We are demanding that it is done legally, peacefully, and humanely, without violence or fear.
South Africa must remain a country governed by law, not by mob action. Protecting immigrants from unlawful harm also protects the integrity and stability of the nation.
