President Biden: Save our Public Lands!

We must take care of America's public lands because now, more than ever, our public lands take care of us.

The global pandemic proved the importance of our parks and public lands. While many activities outside our homes were not available during this stressful time, the outdoors proved to be a valuable refuge and became a more important part of our daily lives — for exercise, connecting with family and friends, or just "me" time.

But in the last few years, America's parks and public lands have been abused and neglected as never before, too.

Every day, another 6,000 acres of open space are lost to development, and millions more acres are being opened to drilling, mining, and other exploitation for short-term profit by private interests. It is time to restore our commitment to these irreplaceable landscapes now.

We need to show our elected leaders that Americans stand on common ground when it comes to creating parks and protecting public lands, and we need to ensure that everyone has access to quality open space and safe communities. The Trust for Public Land's five-year plan to conserve 1 million acres of land, protect 1,000 miles of rivers, and connect or build 1,000 miles of trails across America will guide us in the important months ahead.

Tell President Biden to save our natural areas for people now and for generations to come, and ensure that our public lands are kept in public hands.
President Biden,

Like the majority of Americans, regardless of political affiliation, I care deeply about our public lands and am angered by the abuse and neglect of these special places in recent years.

In this time of a global pandemic, as well as wildfires and hurricanes worsened by climate change, Americans need our iconic national parks and monuments, forests, and seashores more than ever. Public lands and parks unite us, and access to parks and open space is a fundamental right of every American.

Please do not ignore the will of the American people and what members of Congress from both sides of the aisle are demanding — that our leaders reclaim, repair, and restore our natural areas for people now and for generations to come, and ensure that our public lands are kept in public hands.
