Sexual harassment – just part of a day's work? Let's cut it out

If powerful and successful women in Hollywood and the UK Parliament find it hard to challenge sexual harassment and violence at work, then imagine what it's like for women like Sonya.

"Sometimes, of course I think about not going to work anymore... But then I think about my family and I know I cannot quit," says Sonya (not her real name) who works in a Cambodian garment factory.

Speaking out about sexual harassment and abuse is hugely difficult for women everywhere. But when you are a garment worker, standing up to your boss might well mean losing your job. It could mean losing an income that your whole family depends on.

Shocking research in many of the factories supplying clothes to UK high streets reveals that nearly 1 in 3 women workers had experienced violence and harassment as part of their job.
