MySpace, Don't Restrict Photobucket Vids and Remixes!

MySpace has yet again showed that it is a corporate monster by restricting Photobucket content such as videos and remixes. A reported 25 to 30 percent of Photobucket's 17 million monthly users will be blocked with this restriction.

The conflict started when a Photobucket promo for Spiderman appeared on many user pages. But what do they expect from Widgets and content hosted by other sites? Just because it was not endorsed by Fox, MySpace got angry.

And even worse, MySpace is claiming that they contacted Photobucket about the issue, while Photobucket says they never heard a word about it. Hmm...who to believe? Please sign this petition to MySpace telling them that they created an open environment and they have a responsibility to keep it that way. They cannot restrict content just because it's not a Fox ad.

Dear MySpace administrators,

As one of the very people who made MySpace successful, I am angry that you continue to try to make it an outlet for your business ambitions exclusively, and not for the enjoyment and benefit of your users.

I am once again upset that MySpace has decided to stop letting users post Photobucket media to MySpace. Users like me have spent countless hours participating in the MySpace community and have the right to use the services they want to build MySpace profiles.

If these restrictions continue, you will eventually lose the trust of countless members and another, more free social community will take over.

I am asking you to:

-re-enable the ability to link Photobucket content on my MySpace profile
-stop turning on and off services such as Photobucket that I use to post my images, videos and widgets
-stop dictating what services I use to build my profile on MySpace
