Prosecuted for speaking out. Demand freedom and safety for Eren.

She has been prosecuted over 100 times for speaking out. Lawyer and former newspaper editor Eren Keskin refuses to give up on justice.

A human rights defender and vocal critic of the Turkish Government, Eren is facing many years in prison for simply speaking out for minorities.

She has been on the Turkish Government's radar for a long time. 11 years ago she angered authorities after accusing the government of "slaughtering a 12-year-old child". Since then, she's repeatedly faced arrest for articles published in the newspaper she used to edit.

The authorities have gone to great lengths to silence her. She's been hauled before the courts more than 100 times for sympathising with Turkey's Kurdish minority.

The sheer volume of cases against her are nothing short of harassment.

Take action by telling the Turkish authorities that peaceful activism is not a crime. Demand Eren's freedom and safety now.
Dear Minister Bekir Bozdağ,

In 2014, lawyer and former newspaper editor Eren Keskin was convicted of “insulting the Turkish state” because she spoke out against the killing of a 12-year-old boy by the army.

She has been brought before the courts more than 100 times because of her outspoken stand on the plight of Turkey’s Kurdish minority. The sheer volume of cases against her is nothing short of harassment.

Eren must not be imprisoned simply for criticising the state. I call on you to repeal laws that stifle people’s right to freedom of expression.
