Samsung: Come Clean About the Hazards in Your Workplace

Samsung products are ubiquitous. But these cell phones, TVs and DVD players come at a deadly cost.

Families and friends of workers in Samsung's factories discovered a cancer cluster among those workers exposed to cancer-causing chemicals in the manufacturing process. Despite the evidence, Samsung denies all responsibility of the hazards of constructing semiconductors in its factories.

Samsung has a responsibility to its workers and to its customers to be straight and honest about the dangerous cancer-causing chemicals used to manufacture its electronics. Care2's partner Center for Environmental Health holds companies like Samsung accountable for the effects of their harmful industrial chemicals on the health of families and communities.

Tell Samsung to come clean about the dangerous chemicals in its factories.
Dear Mr. Choi,

I am writing today to express my dismay and disappointment in your company's denial of the connection between toxic chemicals in your factories and cancer.

Clear evidence shows that toxic chemicals used in the manufacture of your semiconductors increase workers' risk of cancer. Cancer clusters have been found in workers in your factories, similar to the cancer clusters discovered among IBM "chip" workers in the United States.

It is your company's responsibility to fully disclose the dangers of working in your factories to all your employees and customers. It's time for Samsung to come clean and stop suppressing workers' struggles for a safe and fair workplace.

Please, own up to the health risks for workers in your electronics factories.
