Demand Congress pass legislation to Protect United State Merchant Marine Academy from Federal Government Shutdown

The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) is one of five federal military academies (the five are USMMA, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, United States Military Academy -"West Point").

In legislation to prevent Federal Academy closures during a government shutdown, the USMMA was inadvertently omitted.

We urge Congress to amend the law that protects the federal service academies and pass legislation today to prevent the United States Merchant Marine Academy from closure during a government shutdown.
