Stop the 2018 Commonwealth Games Going to Sri Lanka
The Government of Sri Lanka has consistently refused to acknowledge the grievances of minorities and has acted with impunity to block every attempt to establish an independent and credible investigation into allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
On November 11th 2011 the Commonwealth Games Federation General Assembly will meet to decide whether the Sri Lankan City of Hambantota or the Australian Gold Coast will host the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Please sign our petition and support our cause for Sri Lanka not to be awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Games while allegations of war crimes and the concerns of minorities go unheeded.
We, the undersigned, call on the Commonwealth Games Federation General Assembly to recognise that it would be inappropriate to award Sri Lanka the right to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games, until such a time as when the findings of the United Nations Panel of Experts on Sri Lanka have been independently and credibly investigated and the Panel's recommendations, which would put Sri Lanka on the course of justice, dignity and peace, are fully implemented.
