Christie: Let Gay Couples Marry!

The New Jersey Assembly Judiciary Committee just approved legislation allowing same-sex couples to marry, but Governor Chris Christie has vowed to veto the measure.

Christie has argued that he won't pass the bill because he would prefer a public referendum on the issue, saying that he would rather "trust the people of New Jersey to decide." However, in 31 other states where marriage equality has faced a public referendum, same-sex marriage has never been approved by voters.

Act now to tell Christie that marriage equality is a basic civil right and that it shouldn't be decided by public opinion. Tell Christie not to veto the New Jersey marriage equality law.
We the undersigned urge you not to veto the marriage equality law currently circulating in the New Jersey legislature. Marriage equality is a basic civil right and therefore should not be subject to decision by public opinion.

We call on you to make New Jersey a leader in civil rights legislation by signing the marriage equality legislation.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
