Tell Cambridge Springs to Allow Backyard Chickens!

Please sign my petition in order to allow residences in Cambridge Springs to have chickens on their property!

I have recently attended town meetings where I recognized that Cambridge Springs is not allowed to have chickens at residences in town. There is a movement toward organic and a more natural way of living, and I would like Cambridge Springs to be a part of this.

I am proposing that there be an allowance for 2 chickens on a piece of property. These chickens must be contained in order to keep them from neighboring property or public walkways or roads. These chickens must be kept within a movable container or coop which must be moved every 7 days. I also propose that they must be kept a minimum of 5 feet from neighboring property and 10 feet from the property of neighboring business or public building such as school, church, police station, restaurant, etc.

Chickens will not only provide your home with food, but can provide nitrogen fertilizer for your soil and garden, pick pests/bugs from your grass, and provide a valuable life lesson for our youth.

Two chickens should be plenty to produce eggs for a home.
